Jowar Roti or Chola Roti in Tamil is a popular flat bread Recipe in northern Karntaka region. Sorghum flour/jowar flour strengthens your teeth and bones while improving your immunity. It serves as a Healthy Breakfast Recipe, and prevents certain types of cancer, helps control diabetes, improves digestive health, builds strong bones, promotes RBC development, and boost energy and fuel production. The Jowar Roti featured in this article uses Daivik’s certified-organic Sorghum flour.


  • Daivik’s organic sorghum flour/jowar flour: 1 cup
  • Water: 1 + 1/4 cup
  • Oil: 1 tsp
  • Salt: as needed.


Step 1: Heat the water in a pan. When it starts boiling add, 1 tsp of oil, jowar flour and needed salt.

Step 2: Mix well until the water is absorbed. Then switch off the flame.

Step 3: After few minutes, when flour is warm, knead well into a smooth pliable dough. It takes nearly 3 to 4 minutes to prepare the dough.

Step 4: Take a plastic cover or banana leaf, grease with oil, take big lemon sized dough and spread it over the roti as thin you can, with wet hands.

Step 5: Heat the tawa. When it is hot, place the roti, and drizzle some oil.

Step 6: Cook until both the sides turns golden brown, and serve hot.
