Daivik’s Organic Mappilai samba rice is one of the indigenous varieties of rice that is grown extensively in South Indian states. Its rich micro nutritional and vitamin B complex contents makes it suitable for organic farming and grow without the aid of artificial manuring thereby making it purely organic. The name traces its origin from a folklore where the bridegroom/mappilai where asked to lift a heavy stone called Illavattu kal which roughly translates as “the stone of the strongest”, to symbolize his strength and virility. So, in order to enhance his muscle and nerve functioning the groom was fed by mapillai samba rice.

Usage :

This can be used as table rice and should be soaked for at least three hours before cooking.  It can consume as boiled rice and as a porridge. The ratio of rice to water is 1: 3 and should be cooked for 4 whistles. It has a fine structure and can be mixed with Aval (Flattened rice) and delicious Aval Aappams can be made.
