In Indian cuisine it is popularly known as “Channa Dal’’ and is a major ingredient essentially used for making curries. They are enriched with high fiber content that slows down the absorption of Carbohydrates, which promotes a steady rise in blood sugar levels. Also, it is having high protein content thus maintaining a healthy blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes and reduces the risk of heart diseases.
