Daivik’s Organic Sivappu Kavuni Arisi, also known as Red Cargo Rice is traditional South Indian non-glutinous long grain rice with red bran that retains all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals intact. The presence of anthocyanin gives a vibrant red color to the rice and it also enhances its antioxidant content. It is generally a sweet flavored rice with nutty taste and its texture is chewier than the common white polished rice. It is a sheer boon for patients with diabetic and blood pressure as it contains high zinc level which apparently reduces systolic blood pressure and improves glycemic control and antioxidant status of a diabetic patient.
Usage :
This rice comparatively consumes a longer time to cook than white rice, so it’s advisable to soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes before cooking to acquire a softer texture. It is widely used in the preparation of sweet Pongal, Khichdi and also added to Risottos to give an enhancing flavor and texture.
